The Difference Between Ordinary Taoist Priests and Ordained High-Ranking Register-Holding Taoist Priests.
NOVEMBER 25,2025
Within the lineage system of the Zhengyi School, ordinary priests (who have undergone initial initiation) and High Priests who possess the Registers represent different spiritual ranks. Only these high-ranking, Register-holding High Priests possess the verified efficacy to perform talismanic rites and rituals.
Initial Initiation is the entry rite into the Tao. While these priests may chant scriptures and participate in rituals, their role is primarily focused on self-cultivation and study; they are not yet authorized to perform effective talismanic magic or preside over grand ceremonies.
Receiving the Registers is a deeper spiritual advancement. After a rigorous examination, the priest is granted this Celestial Register—a divine warrant issued by Heaven—which inscribes their name in the Heavenly Court. Only with this Lu are they empowered to perform effective talismanic rites, invoke spirit generals, independently preside over major rituals, and submit petitions to the Heavenly Court. The High Priest thus bears the solemn responsibility of dispelling misfortune and aiding the world.
All Daoist Masters at LongHuTao are orthodox High Priests who have received the Registers. They are fully qualified and capable of performing powerful rites, embodying the Zhengyi spirit of "cultivating the Tao within the mortal world and delivering sentient beings from suffering" to resolve difficulties for sincere believers.
