The Tao is the Source of the Myriad Things
February 6,2026
Before Heaven and Earth were formed, a presence already existed. Lao Tzu named it the "Tao," the Primordial Source of the Myriad Things. The Tao speaks no words, yet from the Void, it birthed the Primordial Qi (Ancestral Breath). From this, Heaven and Earth began to take shape, and all living things were nurtured into being. Taoists call this inherent law "Nature" (Ziran).
The true "Tao" cannot be easily captured in words. It is like a gentle breeze in spring; you can feel its softness, yet you cannot describe the precise path of its every current. Nor is it bound by a fixed name. Like a star in the night sky—whether you call it the Morning Star or the Evening Star—it remains there, steadfast, radiating its own eternal light.
The primordial chaos of the beginning was a state of the "Nameless." Yet, when we bestow names upon the myriad things, they seem to acquire the meaning of life. Consider the rose: once named, it carries the symbolism of love, yet in itself, it is simply blooming naturally according to its own way.
We must hold two mindsets when observing the world: with curiosity, we explore the myriad meanings of things; without prejudice, we discover their true essence. In this complex and chaotic world, only by adopting a vaster, more inclusive perspective—unswayed by superficial appearances—can one perceive the Eternal Tao hidden behind the ten thousand forms.
